Candy Cane Lane / Legislature Grounds / Bright Nights Tour

Saturday, December 20th is the Candy Cane Lane / Alberta Legislature grounds / Bright Nights Tour.

We'll meet at the Second Cup, located at 8902 - 149 Street NW, at 6:30pm. After allowing you some time to obtain hot beverages to sustain you on this 16.5km drive, we'll leave at 7:00pm.

First stop is Candy Cane Lane (148 Street between 92 & 100 Avenues), then Alberta's Legislature grounds, ending up at Hawrelak Park. The first two attractions are free, Bright Nights is $20/car (new basic price for 2008). If you wish to leave the tour here, that's okay, but if you do the Bright Nights loop, please remember to bring a donation for the Edmonton Food Bank.

Miata attendance is not mandatory, however, they will be given preference at the head of the line.

Meeting / Event Reminder

The October club meeting is Thursday, October 16 at 7:00pm in the 2nd floor boardroom of Park Mazda in Sherwood Park. The Volume 14, Issue 11 Miata Musings newsletter will be available for pickup at the meeting.

The next (and last) event of 2008 is the Fall "Burn Some Wood" Cookout on Sunday, October 19 at James & Susan P.'s house located at 145 Jidaro Valley, SE of Sherwood Park.

To find it, from Edmonton, take Whitemud Drive east to the city limits, cross Highway 216 (Anthony Henday Drive) and continue east on what becomes Highway 628 for four miles (the north-south Range Roads are spaced on the mile) until you get to Highway 21. Continue east on what becomes Township Road 522 for another two miles until you come to a right-hand curve, which transitions you heading south on Range Road 224. Continue south for approximately one mile until you come to the first entrance to Jidaro Valley on your left (there are two, it really doesn’t matter which you take). Turn into the subdivision and continue on the loop until you find 145 (on your left if you’ve turned in at the first entrance).

The event is a simple one…enjoy the outdoors, eat, drink (don’t drink and drive), and be merry with fellow club members. Pets are welcome. The fire will start at 1:30pm. BYOB, food, etc…and James will supply the all the wood we could want – a side-effect of owning a very treed acreage lot.

Richard & Cynthia C. of Edmonton, and;

Autoslaloms & Lapping Day

Saturday, September 27 and Sunday, October 5 are Events #4 & #5, both at C.F.B. Edmonton, capping off our five-event season.

If you didn't register for gate entry for the August date via either Richard or Andrew, or are making a change (car, guests, etc...), you'll need to contact Andrew (via his e-mail address on the back page of the newsletter) no later than September 18 (for the September 27 event) or September 25 (for the October 5 event).
__________________________

As an added bonus, we're combining again with the Edmonton Z-Car Club, Northern Alberta BMW Club, and Polar Region - Porsche Club of America for a second lapping day at Stratotech Park, across the river from Fort Saskatchewan, on Saturday, October 11. Stay tuned to the forum post for breaking information and keep in touch with Andrew.

Hope to see you at all three events...even if you just come out to spectate.
